Jake Wilhelm was 55 years old when the incident occurred. He was a master welder his entire adult life. Outside of work, he took great pride in his flower garden and he loved hunting elk. A crew starts the day with a quick tailgate meeting about the tasks that need to be completed, followed by a quick review of safety tips, and then off to work. Most days the job gets done, and everyone goes home safely. However, sometimes accidents happen and sometimes people get hurt on the job.
At Builders Trust we have seen many claims involving subcontractors. A savvy business owner will ask the subcontractor to provide a certificate of insurance to show that they have current workers’ compensation coverage.
